1997 Orville Les Paul LPC-75 EB Black & new hard case

Here we have a little used Orville Les Paul Custom made at the Fujigen Factory in Japan in 1997. Orvilles are coming up for sale less and less so I was fortunate to pick one up in this condition. As you can see it's a Les Paul Custom. The only notable difference I can see is that this has a Rosewood rather than an Ebony fretboard. It's also had a a neck pickup change from the original stock pickup to a USA Seymour Duncan. The pickups are well balanced and it sounds & plays fabulously well!

Orville guitars were made in Japan from 1988-1998 when Yamano Gakki took over the distribution of  Gibson guitars in Japan. They decided to expand the brand & so guitars were built in the above mentioned facilities for Gibson USA but were branded Orville, which was Gibson's christian name. Orville & Orville by Gibson guitars are very highly rated. They are really well made. In 1998, they changed the name from Orville to Epiphone Elite but essentially they are the same guitars

This Orville is the LPC-75 model as stated which has a black finish. The guitar is made from Mahogany with a Maple cap, as other Gibson Les Pauls are. The Mahogany is solid, not chambered and the guitar weighs in at 4532 grammes (9lb 15.9oz).  All the hardwear is gold coloured.

The overall condition is excellent for a 20+ year old guitar although there are a few small knocks and dents around the edges as shown in the photographs. I did one finish repair on the lower side of the neck. There are before & after photos in the gallery.

Other than the neck pickup upgrade, the only other changes I spotted on the guitar were a new pickguard & a replacement bone nut

Orvilles were equipped with domestic made PAF pickups whereas OBG's were fitted with Gibson USA pickups. There are no other differences to the guitars

Please check out the video at the foot of this listing showing an Orville LPC-75 being played by session guitarist Robin Burrows. The guitar in the clip is the same as this guitar other than colour (white)

Hard Case

As said many times, all my guitars come shipped in a new black hard case which is included in the price. I find this is the safest way to avoid damage in transit.  Alternatively, if you are collecting the guitar and, like some buyers have cases coming out of their ears, that's no problem, I'll adjust the price (usually around a £30 discount) and I can usually find you an old gigbag to take the guitar away in. The only hard and fast rule I have is that I won't ship a guitar in a gigbag
